Chef Toni Puts The "Cool" In Cooking School

We were so excited when we received this project! We are definitely off to a great start and its only getting better. With the rise in obesity, among other healthy issues with our kids, Chef Toni's Cooking Academy is long over due, but were glad its here and available to New York families! With back to school just around the corner Chef Toni's Cooking Academy offers a unique after school program that understands the importance of nourishing food, because not only does it make a child healthier, but also improves their school performance, and is a critical component in growth and development.

A typical day for a student at Chef Toni's Cooking Academy involves dressing up in his/her very own chef hat and apron. Students visit local farmers, butchers, bakers, and grocers who teach them about fresh produce, food origins, preparation and dining. The full semester covers Farm-to-Table Cooking, Healthy Food Choices, Nutrition, Smart Shopping Skills, Culinary Techniques, and Basic Manners & Etiquette. kids love the idea of becoming top “junior chefs” and receive Culinary Graduation Certificates at the end of the class semester.

As part of Chef Toni's pro-active stands for healthy kids, healthy living she will be kicking off the fall season with an amazing farm-to-table phantasmagoria with Holton Farms, and The Association To Benefit Children on Sept 11, 2010. Parents, kids, media and the community will get a first hand look inside this spectacular academy, while Chef Toni presents The Association To Benefit Children five scholarships to attend the academy. The Association To Benefit Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing joy and warmth to disadvantaged children and their families through compassionate, sustainable, comprehensive and integrated services, designed to permanently break the cycles of abuse, neglect, sickness and homelessness.

Here's a brief recap of Chef Toni's latest press (August). We have more on the way and will post her official invite to her "Farm-To-Table event on Sept 11, 2010.
