"STAY" A WHILE WITH R&B SOUL SINGER HEATHER PARK

By UrbanSuite + September 2nd, 2010

It’s hard to believe its been five years since Heather Park released her highly respected album  “Dream In Pictures” off indie label Stush Music.  But in fact the Korean R&B/Soul singer is back with her second album “Stay,” a new look, an unleashed sound, breaking free of expectations and finding comfort in oneself.
Heather Park is not what you expect. But defying expectations has always been part of her style. With a subtly sweet tone, Heather’s second album, “Stay”, explores the nuances of love learned, lost and reborn. With the International recognition she received off her first album “Dream In Pictures,” Heather’s signature style of lush harmonies, refreshing live instruments, and poetic rhetoric will leave you wanting more. Heather draws inspiration from a range of genres — R&B, hip-hop, soul, folk — and she masterfully merges them into a language all her own.  And it’s part of why the powerful, sultry soul she unleashes packs the kind of punch you never see coming.
Infused with heavy reggae roots, the lead single, “Trust You”, tells a tale about a love made inseparable from lust. “Somebody Else” pays homage to old school hip-hop/R&B with an exhilarating statement about breaking free of expectations and finding comfort in oneself. In the album’s title song, “Stay”, the stripped down acoustic track frees Heather’s sultry voice to soar and dominate. Deeply expressive and musically sound, “Stay” is a musical statement of personal strife wrapped in lyrical complexity and smooth resonance. It’s radiant, tough, tender and unique — just like its creator.  “Understated-cool” are words to describe Heather Park. Breaking barriers and stereotypes of what she should be, is what she’s about.
Heather’s album “Stay” is set for release September 28, 2010, along with her album release party at Crash Mansion. Heather will also be performing October 14, 2010 in support of CancerCare’s annual Champagne & Chocolates fundraiser.
