Vegan Fashion Week 2019

Happy Tuesday! We're midway through January, which also means it's halfway through Veganuary for those of you taking part. As we mention in our post last week, Veganuary challenges people to try the vegan diet for a month, with the end goal of helping people make the switch permanently. As we already discussed, there are a number of advantages of going vegan, with one being seeing an end to animal exploitation.

Over the years, going vegan has become increasingly popular within the fashion industry, with a growing number of fashion brands, including Chanel, Gucci, Versace and Burberry, banning the use of fur and exotic animal skins from their collections. With veganism becoming in more common in today's society, the announcement of a first of its kind Vegan Fashion Week couldn't be more timely.

Set to commence in LA, in the California Market Center, on the 1st February, the 4 day event aims to end all forms of animal exploitation in the fashion industry. Speaking to VegNews, Animal rights activist and founder of the event Emmanuelle Rienda said she wants to "ignite conversations and debates within the industry by educating, elevating and drawing connections between our most important values; our respect for human life, animal rights and the environment".

After its debut in LA, VFW is expected to travel to fashion-forward cities around the world. At the event, there will be a showcase of pieces made without the use of animal products and there'll also be a pop-up shop where guests can purchase vegan fashion items! And to keep your appetite at bay, there'll also be a vegan lounge, where visitors can dine on vegan food.

If you're interesting in attending (I know the TTG Girl Gang are!), check out veganfashionweek.org for more information and tickets.
