Michael Clayton To Return To Co-Host “Sports Xtra”

New York, NY- Veteran WR Michael Clayton of the New York Giants has been asked to return to co-host Fox 5 New York's "Sports Xtra" with Duke Castiglione which airs Sunday nights at 10:30pm.

Clayton who is was placed on injured reserved right before the Giants versus New Orleans game was introduced to Duke Castiglione on December 13, 2011 when he made an appearance on Fox 5 New York's Good Day NY to discuss a charity event he was hosting alongside Giants CB Aaron Ross to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Michael Clayton was then asked to appear on "Sports Xtra" January 8, 2012 with two-time super bowl champion, former Giants Punter Sean Landeta to break down the Giants win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Immediately following the show not only were Fox 5 NY staff extremely impressed with Michael's performance, but Duke Castiglione’s father Joe Castiglione, a longtime sportscaster and the play-by-play voice for the Red Sox, praised Clayton for his performance and commentary. Duke returned the next day to find that Clayton sparked a rise in ratings.

Since being placed in injured reserve Michael has wasted no time in recovering in addition to keeping busy by making several news appearances. A former LSU Tiger, Michael was recently in New Orleans January 9, 2012 to cheer on the team in which he was a 1st round draft pick in 2004 to the Tampa Buccaneers. Michael participated in pre-game appearances with WWL-TV New Orleans, and WVUE TV FOX 8 New Orleans.

Michael will be reporting live from Fox 5 NY Sunday January 15, 2012 at 10:30pm with Duke Castiglione reporting from Green Bay. Together the two will talk about the keys to victory for whichever team wins the game. They will also look at things like the running games and the play of each quarterback and any big plays in the game.

Michael hopes to continue on the path of Sports Anchoring and commentary during the off season as a free agent. Michael is grateful for his time with the NY Giants and the opportunity to play alongside friend and former LSU Tiger Corey Webster; in addition to all of the great players on the team. Michael is hoping for the opportunity to return once again for another season with the NY Giants. Despite a roller coaster of press reviews, Michael remains ranked 5th all-time in NFL history among rookies with 80 receptions for 1193 yards and 7 touchdowns, ranking him 1st on the Buccaneers in receiving touchdowns that season. This stellar season has led numerous publications to select him to the all-rookie team. With eight years in the NFL, one of Clayton's biggest NFL accomplishments include averaging over 14 yards per reception in 2009, extending his streak of averaging over 10 yards per reception since joining the league.
