Happy Monday everyone! This was a rather exciting Monday here in New York City! If you didn't know, but I'm sure you did, today was the once in a lifetime solar eclipse!! But that's not the only thing that has us excited over here at TTG!

Miquela Sousa, aka Instagram's latest It girl, @lilmiquela, has a note-perfect résumé for such a position: She boasts legions of followers, who number in the hundreds of thousands; her selfie game is prolific, typically paired with captions that trade in both wide-eyed, youthful optimism, and pointed political critiques; she swaps makeup tips with her superfans, some of who mimic her dramatic looks in studious detail; and she gets VIP access to rap shows, posting videos from backstage in her Instagram stories. For all intents and purposes, Miquela fits right in with the rest of the bizarro universe of social media celebrity. There's just one important thing that sets her apart: Miquela isn't "real", by most conventional definitions.
