Fashion Review: Oscars 2019

The 91st Academy Awards took place in Hollywood's Dolby Theatre last night, marking the end of this year's awards season. From a surprise 'Best Picture' win, to no official host for the first time in 30 years, this year's Oscars are sure to leave people with something to talk about for the next while, well, in the TTG office anyway! Most of our attention, however, was drawn to the red carpet, as this year produced a record number of award winning looks, from elegant ballgowns to daring ensembles, any disappointment experienced over the awards themselves was made up for in what the stylists to the stars produced for us.

Award nights always provide great topic for debate here between your TTG girl gang as we mull over our best dressed, comparing notes and opinions, and while sometimes divided, last night's Oscar's fashion have us all on pretty similar wavelengths. We have worked together (and compromised!) to give you our top 5 red carpet looks. Not an easy task with over 100 stunning looks to pick from, especially given the fact they have been dubbed 'the best Oscars Red Carpet ever', but somebody has to do it!

TOP 5 LOOKS AT THE OSCARS

1) Kacey Musgraves
Already featured on a multitude of best dressed lists from last night, it's no suprise why. Dressed in Giambattista Valli Couture, Musgraves went out of her comfort zone in this voluminous pink tulle gown, resulting in this eye-catching candy pink delight!

2) Michelle Yeoh
One word. Regal. Michelle Yeoh, star of Crazy Rich Asians, certainly took breaths away in this Elie Saab creation accesorized with Chopard jewelry. From the gold lurex thread embroidery & ocean shade sequins to the off-the-shoulder plunge neckline, Yeoh dazzled the paps and onlookers as she glided down the red carpet.

3) Lady Gaga
Gaga, who also featured on our Golden Globe's Best Dressed list, gave us Breakfast at Tiffanys 2.0 in this stunning black Alexander McQueen ballgown, fittingly accessorised with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Long gone are the days of meat covered dresses and giant fur blockheads (worth a Google if you're curious).

4) Tina Fey
Tina, who appeared on-stage alongside Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph to present the first award category of the night, Best Supporting Actress, looked effortlessly chic in this simple yet eye-popping strapless blue Vera Wang dress.

5) Regina King
Regina King absolutely slayed in this white-hot Oscar De La Renta gown. Featuring a daring leg slit and subtle glitz on the bodice, King, who went on to win her first ever Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, finished off her look with Chopard diamonds, a favorite of the stars at last night's awards.

The list could go on and on, but there you have our (extremely) narrowed down Academy Award Fashion Round-Up! Only a few more months until the next big award night....

Until tomorrow,

Your TTG Girl Gang x
